Oro Valley Citizen of the Year
The Rotary Club of Oro Valley established the Citizen of the Year Award to recognize an individual whose life demonstrates commitment to the Rotary ideals of Service Above Self and high ethical standards.
Selection Criteria
- Nominee lives or works in Oro Valley and performs service that betters the local community, the broader Tucson community, or society in general OR nominee does not live or work in Oro Valley but performs service that betters Oro Valley.
- Nominee has demonstrated extraordinary volunteer or paid service for the betterment of society. If the award is given for paid service, it must be for a career that is primarily oriented toward improvement of the lives of others.
- The service creates a benefit that was not present before the nominee began the work.
- The benefit of the service is long-range and sustainable.
- The efforts may be on long or short duration, but if short duration, the impact must be significant.
- Special consideration will be given to unsung heroes, whose contributions may otherwise go unrecognized. This consideration does not preclude an award to an individual who has previously received recognition for significant contributions
